PalmThe Balearic Islands began 2026 with a 1.44% increase in births, according to data for January published this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). Specifically, a total of 773 births occurred in the archipelago during the first month of the year. Of those born in January, 391 were girls and 382 were boys. The majority of births were to mothers in the 30-34 age bracket (260), followed by those aged 35-39 (233) and 25-29 (138). Regarding deaths, the INE statistics published this Wednesday reveal that 1,807 deaths were recorded in the Balearic Islands up to week 9 of 2026, a 0.14% increase compared to the same week of the previous year. 193 people died in the Islands this week alone.
