The water reserves of the Balearic Islands are at 50% this April, four points less than in March

PalmThe water reserves of the Balearic Islands have stood at 50% during the month of April, which represents a decrease of four points compared to March, when they were at 54%. Despite this drop, the general situation of the Hydrographic Demarcation (0.514) remains at values higher than those recorded a year ago (0.475) and two years ago (0.455).
By islands, Mallorca has gone from 54% to 50%, Menorca from 48% to 43%, and Eivissa from 58% to 55%. The overall situation in the Balearic Islands (50%) is lower than that of a year ago (53%).
Regarding the evolution by demand units (UD), four register increases: Palma-Alcúdia, Tramuntana Nord, Tramuntana Sud, and Formentera, while six show decreases: Menorca, Artà, Manacor-Felanitx, Migjorn, es Pla, and Eivissa. Despite these variations, no demand unit changes its situation compared to the previous month.
Currently, 29.1% of the territory (corresponding to the demand units of Formentera, Tramuntana Nord, Tramuntana Sud, and Eivissa) is in a normal situation. 60.7% of the territory (Menorca, Artà, Manacor-Felanitx, Migjorn, and Palma-Alcúdia) remains in a pre-alert situation, while the remaining 10.2%, corresponding to the des Pla demand unit, continues in an alert situation.
Dry month
According to data from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), April has been a dry month in the Balearic Islands, with an average rainfall of 27.4 l/m² compared to the usual 42.9 l/m², meaning it was 36% below the average. By island, the month was normal in Mallorca, with 31.9 l/m²; very dry in Menorca, with 12.9 l/m²; and dry in both Ibiza, with 10.4 l/m², and Formentera, with 8.6 l/m². Nevertheless, the percentage of interannual rainfall in the Balearic Islands continues to be above average, with 106% accumulated. By island, Mallorca registers 104%, Menorca 107%, and the Pitiusas 115%.
Regarding temperatures, the month of April has been very warm in the Balearic Islands, with an average temperature of 15.9 ºC and a positive anomaly of 1.3 ºC.
