PalmPalma City Council is reviewing all files related to the Cala Major apartment building where six commercial premises were sealed off this week due to the risk of collapse. Municipal spokesperson Mercedes Celeste revealed this Wednesday at the municipal governing board's press conference that the building passed the mandatory technical inspection in 2014 and will undergo a new progress report in 2023.

In addition, urban planning experts are carrying out new checks to determine the structural condition of the entire building, which was constructed in the 1960s at number 288 Joan Miró Street.

Mercedes Celeste explained that, although the City Council has taken charge of the current situation to ensure safety, "the responsibility for the preservation of the buildings rests with the owners." The commercial premises will be sealed off while potential risks are assessed and the necessary actions are determined to ensure the stability of the building and the safety of the residents.
