PalmThe Plenary of the Consell de Mallorca approved this Thursday the free transfer to the Balearic Housing Institute of the land located next to the Illes Balears Velodrome, in Palma, so that more than 300 public protection homes can be built. Thus, the announcement made by President Llorenç Galmés in the General Policy Debate held on March 30 to "provide a response and solution to the main problem of the Majorcans: access to housing" becomes effective.

During the debate, the Minister of Finance, Innovation and Public Function, Rafel Bosch, reiterated that "although the island institution does not have competences in this matter, it does not stand idly by and contributes its grain of sand with the free transfer of a plot of land valued at 4.6 million euros to carry out the largest affordable housing development on the island".

The latest topographic studies carried out conclude that the total area of the land is 33,131 square meters and that it is located between the facilities of the Children's Home, the Youth Home and the Illes Balears Velodrome and the Sant Ferran Sports Center, in the Camp Redó area, and more than 300 public homes can be built.

Minister Bosch highlighted that this operation will allow the island institution's public services to be expanded and reinforced. Thus, IBAVI will transfer 35 homes to the island institution that will be dedicated to social use. Also a space of 400 square meters to house a cultural rehearsal center, responding to a demand from Mallorca's artists.
