The Council is committed to ensuring the right of passage along public roads in the Sierra law
The counselor, Toni Fuster, has met with the Right of Way platform and hiking groups to clarify doubts about the right of way in the future landscape law
PalmThe Consell de Mallorca has committed this Thursday to guarantee the right of passage on public paths in the Serra de Tramuntana in the new law that will regulate their uses. This was conveyed by the island institution's Minister of the Presidency in a meeting with the 'Dret de Pas' platform and hiking entities such as the Grup Excursionista de Mallorca (GEM).
During the meeting, within the framework of the norm's participatory process, Fuster emphasized that the law seeks a balance between public use and the protection of the cultural landscape. The Consell has stressed that passage through public roads cannot be restricted or charged for.
The minister insisted that "in no case" will permission be required to travel along a public path, even if it crosses private property. Likewise, he clarified that the possibility of diverting routes refers exclusively to private paths and always under administrative authorization to avoid negative impacts on the environment.
The meeting, in which collectives such as Gadma, the Grup Excursionista de Mallorca (GEM), and the Federació de Ciclisme also participated, served to explain that the law foresees voluntary agreements with owners to open new itineraries. With this round of contacts, the Consell aims to dispel users' doubts about possible route closures in the Serra.
