PorrerasThe desire for fun has no age limit. The celebration of an 'horabauxa' is one of the novelties with which the Feria de la Gent Gran (Great People's Fair), organized by the Consell de Mallorca, will close in Porreres on April 25th. It is a festival that in its previous edition in 2025 brought together up to 3,000 people in ses Salines.

The Fair will tour the streets of Porreres to turn the municipality into a large space dedicated to the elderly. The event will take place from 10 am to 4 pm with a varied program of activities, workshops, talks, and music.

After the success of previous editions, the Consell de Mallorca consolidates this initiative with a complete proposal that combines physical activity, culture, and meeting spaces. The fair will extend through different points of Porreres, with simultaneous activities so that all participants can enjoy a dynamic day.

The Minister of the Presidency, Toni Fuster, presented the Fair in Porreres today and highlighted that “this fair has already established itself as an essential date in the calendar for the elderly, the largest space in Mallorca designed especially for them. It is a meeting point where they can gather, participate, and enjoy, but also where we recognize the active and essential role they play within our society. The Consell wants them to feel like protagonists, to have a good time, and to have more and more opportunities to stay active”.

For her part, the mayor of Porreres, Maria Agnès Sampol, assured that “for our municipality it is an honor to host an initiative like this, which will fill our streets with life. Porreres will become a meeting point for the elderly from all over Mallorca”.

The program includes line dancing, ballroom dancing, sevillanas, bot dancing, and zumba, as well as neulas workshops and other participatory activities. In addition, the documentary Cien libros juntas will be screened in the Porreres auditorium, there will be a circus show, a choral concert in the church, and a truc tournament.

Also, on health and well-being, various conferences have been scheduled with professionals from different specialties, with the participation of the Official College of Physiotherapists of the Balearic Islands, the Official College of Dietitians-Nutritionists of the Balearic Islands, the Official College of Graduates in Physical Education and in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences of the Balearic Islands, and Civil Protection services. The experts will offer practical content to improve the quality of life of the group.

Furthermore, in the stall area, various associations of elderly people will be able to exhibit the creations they have made throughout the year. This space will be complemented by the participation of entities and companies that will promote programs and services of interest to the group, thus expanding the information offer for their daily lives.

Regarding the aforementioned dance time, it will be held to put the finishing touch to the day, with the performance of the musical group Biel Tous and Marisa Rojas, which will turn the closing into a festive occasion. Likewise, the Consell de Mallorca will once again make a transport service available to associations and federations of elderly people to facilitate their attendance.
