PalmThe Mallorca Fire Department confirmed the extinction of the fire that broke out Thursday night in the Albufera Natural Park, where they counted up to six outbreaks. Firefighters withdrew at 2:30 a.m. this Friday after having managed to completely extinguish a blaze that grew worse over the hours, reaching two forest outbreaks and four agricultural outbreaks, with six active outbreaks in total.
Firefighters from the Alcudia, Inca, and Artà parks participated in the extinguishing efforts, and the sergeant, the operations chief, and the coordination chief were dispatched to the area. Members of the Balearic Institute of Nature (Ibanat), under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and the Natural Environment, also worked to extinguish the flames.
In addition, a unit was activated with members of the Muro Local Police and the Civil Guard. The police have launched a search to clarify the incidents, which have been deemed intentional, after firefighters reported several small outbreaks. The emergency services will determine the area burned by the flames this Friday morning.
Serpona is taking over the investigation into the fire.
The Civil Guard's Nature Protection Service (Seprona) has already taken over the investigation into the Albufera fire, which is being investigated as intentional after confirming the existence of up to six fires.
Specialized agents are already on the ground to clarify the circumstances of the fire. The full area burned is yet to be determined, although it is already known that the first two fires burned 0.4 hectares.
