PalmThe future nautical bus of the port of Palma will have three differentiated lines and the ticket will cost 6 euros per trip. This was explained this Friday by the president of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB), Javier Sanz, during the presentation of the project, which will be managed for 15 years by a temporary union of companies formed by TUI and MallorcaAventura.

The service, which will come into operation between the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027, is part of the integral renovation of the port and is proposed as a "sustainable, accessible and modern" alternative for getting around the bay of Palma.

The first line will be exclusively for cruise passengers and will connect the West Dock with the Reial Scale, in the Lonja area. It will have a frequency of 30 minutes, but will only operate on days when there are cruise ships in the port.

The second line will be a public service and will mainly be for residents and port workers. It will include stops at the Poniente dock, the Transit dock —known as the swallows' dock— and the Reial Scale. It will operate every day of the year with a frequency of 30 minutes: from 07:00 to 00:00 on weekdays and from 07:00 to 22:00 on weekends.

The third line will have a more tourist-oriented focus and will connect different points of the bay in a circular route. Although it still needs to be finalized, it is expected to reach Portitxol, Cala Estancia, Can Pastilla, and s'Arenal. The first departure will be at 09:00 and the last at 18:00, with a frequency of between 45 and 80 minutes depending on the route.

Prices and season tickets

The price of a single ticket will be 6 euros, while a round trip will cost 12 euros.

Reduced fares are also planned for residents and workers, with 20-trip passes for 20 euros and 100-trip passes for 50 euros. The APB is studying the integration of these tickets with the Intermodal Card or the Single Card, although they will not be free.

Tickets can be purchased through a mobile application, a website, physical ticket offices, and vending machines.

Four hybrid catamarans

The service will be provided with four 18-meter-long catamarans, with a capacity for 100 passengers. The vessels will be hybrid-powered and adapted for both bicycle transport and for people with reduced mobility.

The total cost of these vessels will exceed six million euros.
