Vox compares aid to Catalan to spending money "on whores and cocaine."
The far right in the Consell de Mallorca considers the measure "a package of discounts for those who want to destroy Spain with public money."

PalmThe left of the Consell de Mallorca has once again saved the day aids to the associations and entities that defend Catalan by 2025. All of the island's political parties voted in favor of these subsidies except for Vox. The First Vice President and Councilor for Culture and Heritage of the Consell (PP), Antònia Roca, wanted to show her "maximum support" for all of these entities, which she considered "necessary" for our land.
The spokesperson for the far-right, Toni Gili, attacked the Popular Party for supporting this initiative and accused them of allowing "linguistic apartheid." "It is as immoral for the PSOE to spend money on whores and cocaine as it is for you to vote in favor of these subsidies."
He also criticized the fact that "only" nominal subsidies are given to Catalan and emphasized that the far-right is willing to engage in dialogue "as long as there is symmetry" in the aid given to the two co-official languages of Mallorca. "It's a package of discounts for those who want to destroy Spain and the homeland with public money and establish their linguistic dictatorship."
For her part, PP spokesperson Núria Riera warned that "if Mr. Gili needs to call for prostitution to reject language and culture policies, he should think about it."
Thus, the Consell de Mallorca will give 45,000 euros to Jóvenes de Mallorca por la Lengua; 35,000 euros to the Obra Cultural Balear (OCB), and 36,000 euros to the Association of Writers in the Catalan Language, among other entities. It should be remembered that in 2024, the Consell de Mallorca cut the nominal subsidies for Jóvenes por la Lengua and the OCB by 25% to appease the far right (which wanted to reduce the aid directed to these entities to 0). In addition, Vox approved these reductions When the island institution's budget was negotiated, it decided to breach the agreement and vote against any subsidies allocated to entities supporting and promoting the language.
