The Ministry of Tourism wakes up with graffiti on the facade: "Tourism kills"
It is the second time in just over a year that a protest graffiti appears on the facade of the Government's headquarters in Palma
PalmaThe headquarters of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports, in Palma, woke up this Friday with graffiti on its facade that read the message "Tourism kills". The inscription has already been removed by cleaning services before midday.
It is the second time that graffiti has appeared on the Department's building. In July 2025, Arran Mallorca wrote "Guilty of our misery" there, in an action that also targeted the Government's tourism policies.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Jaume Bauzá, has condemned the new action in a message on social networks. "What kills is turning a complex debate into an easy slogan," he stated.
Bauzá defended that in the Balearic Islands "we know better than anyone what tourism means: opportunities, work, prosperity, and also challenges that we must face with courage". According to the minister, it is necessary to address the problems linked to the tourism model "without denying them", but also "without pointing as an enemy that which is part of the life and future of thousands of families".
The graffiti appears in the midst of a debate about the limits of tourism in the Balearic Islands and the pressure that the activity exerts on housing, territory, and resources. The message, however, has had an immediate response from the head of the main Government department responsible for tourism policy.
