The most crowded March in history: 1.52 million people in the Balearic Islands

The Human Pressure Index registered its historic maximum on March 31, with 136,333 more people than a year earlier and increases on all islands.

PalmaThe Human Pressure Index (HPI) in the Balearic Islands has broken a new record with 1.52 million people in the Archipelago in March, 9.85% more than in the third month of 2025 and 136,833 more people, according to data from the Balearic Institute of Statistics (Ibestat)

According to Ibestat data, the highest level of human pressure in March 2026 was registered on the 31st. The minimum index, on the other hand, was 1.29 million people in the Balearic Islands as a whole. The March average was 1.37 million people, representing 1.87%. That is, a total of 25,123 people. By islands, in Mallorca the day with the most people was March 31st, with 1.19 million. In Menorca the day of highest pressure was March 31st with 119,537 people; in Ibiza, also on the 31st, with 197,399 people, and in Formentera, on the same day with 15,438 people.
