The OCB appoints Maria Antònia Perelló coordinator of the Joan Alcover Centennial 2026

She holds a doctorate in Catalan Language and Literature, with the thesis 'Poetic Itinerary of Joan Alcover, Life and Work', distinguished with the extraordinary doctoral prize

PalmThe board of directors of the Balearic Cultural Association has appointed Maria Antònia Perelló Femenia, PhD in Catalan Language and Literature and a specialist in the work of Joan Alcover, as coordinator of the events that the organization will organize to commemorate the centenary of Joan Alcover's death.

Maria Antònia Perelló Femenia (Inca, 1957) holds a PhD in Catalan Language and Literature (2010) from the University of the Balearic Islands, with the dissertation , distinguished with the extraordinary doctoral prize. She has published (2006) and is the author of the preliminary study that accompanies the edition of (2007), as well as the essays The human heartbeat in Proverbs and Biblical poems by Joan Alcover (2018) and (2024).

He has also written the illustrated biography (2008), the literary portrait (2016) and has been responsible for the critical edition of by Miquel Costa i Llobera (2020).

In the field of narrative, she is the author of the novels The twilight of a man (2006), The lily's revenge (City of Manacor Award, 2015) and Migratory birds (2020). In 2024, he received the Fra Miquel Colom Prize, awarded by the OCB of Inca.

He is currently working on the editing of the Complete Works of Joan Alcoverof both prose and poetry, and is preparing an expanded biography of the author, based on the one published in 2008.

The commemorative events will begin this February with the inauguration of the new museum project at the poet's House Museum, in the Ca n cultural center. The program will extend throughout 2026 with dramatized readings, recitals, literary tours, and publications of an informative nature that will review and celebrate the work of this key figure in Catalan literature in the Balearic Islands.

The image created by the cartoonist and illustrator Pere Joan for the 2026 calendar edition, dedicated to Joan Alcover, has been integrated into the commemorative logo for the centenary.
