Compared to the previous quarter, the population grew by 0.20% in the third quarter, reaching 1.25 million inhabitants. Of the total population of the archipelago, 625,685 are men and 629,376 are women. According to the statistics, 974,288 people live in Mallorca; 165,648 in Ibiza; 103,281 in Menorca; and 11,844 in Formentera.
78.5% of the population residing in the Canary Islands on October 1st holds Spanish nationality, while the remaining 21.5% are citizens of other countries.

This increase is largely due to the fact that the number of people born in Spain decreased compared to the second quarter of the year.
Of the 49.4 million, 39,617,578 are Spanish-born (9,901 fewer than in the previous quarter), while 9,825,266 are residents in Spain born abroad, an increase of 115,389.
