PalmaThe citizen platform Flipau amb Pere Garau has denounced the proliferation of abandoned cars in the neighborhood's streets and has criticized the "inaction" of the Palma City Council in the face of a situation that, it claims, degrades public space and further reduces the available parking spaces in one of the most densely populated areas of the city.

The entity recalls that municipal regulations establish that a vehicle cannot remain parked in the same place for more than 10 consecutive days and that, once the owner is notified, they have 48 hours to remove it. Despite this, it states that there are reported vehicles that have been occupying public roads for months. "There are abandoned cars, notified to Cort, that appear on Google Maps in February 2026, such as at Bartomeu Torres street, 65, or another at Bisbe Cabanelles street, 6, which is parked and full of pigeon droppings," explained the entity's spokesperson Genoveva Martín.

Faced with this situation, the platform calls on Cort for an urgent campaign to remove abandoned vehicles and to speed up the implementation of the ORA zone in Pere Garau, announced by the mayor for the second half of 2025, with the parking meters already installed. According to the entity, the regulation of parking will encourage vehicle rotation, facilitate access to the market, and allow residents to find parking more easily.
