The suppression of EMT line 19 collapses line 16: "The bus passes by and leaves us stranded"
Residents of Secar de la Real report that users, including the elderly, are left unable to board the bus due to the saturation of the line connecting to Establiments
PalmaThe suspension during the month of August of line 19 of EMT Palma, which usually connects the UIB and Parc Bit with Porta del Camp, has caused the saturation of line 16, which serves Secar de la Real and Establiments, according to neighborhood residents. EMT announced that the L19 would be out of service during August and would resume its route on September 1.
"During August they removed the bus 19 from the University and this has led to the collapse of line 16," explains a resident, who assures that the situation repeats itself daily. According to her account, the buses pass by when they arrive full and leave users at the stop. The situation, she states, is especially problematic for the elderly.
"This Thursday morning there was a large group with elderly people and it hasn't stopped, with the heat there is," she denounces. As she explains, her son has also experienced it several times this month. The neighbors assure that they have already communicated the situation to the EMT through complaints and comments, but they are skeptical about the response they might receive. "Unfortunately, we don't have much hope" and they add that they doubt that with the Arenal line they would allow this to happen.
The temporary suspension of the L19 was justified by the changes in the summer service and the fact that the Parc Bit metro station is now operational. Despite everything, the metro service cannot meet the mobility needs of the residents of Secar de la Real and Establiments, who denounce that the reduction in service is leaving some users unable to access buses, especially during peak hours and on hotter days.
Line 16 currently covers the route between Establiments-el Muntant and Plaça de les Columnes, while the L19 has its route between Parc Bit and Porta del Camp.
