The bus strike in Mallorca has been definitively called off.

PalmThe four TIB workers' assemblies overwhelmingly supported the agreement reached between the union and management for labor improvements, so the strike has been definitively called off.

According to SATI, the first meeting held this morning at the Regional Ministry of Labor, Public Service, and Social Dialogue gave an "absolute yes" to the preliminary agreement. This afternoon, the assemblies were held in Menorca and Ibiza, as well as the second meeting in Palma, where the agreement was also unanimously approved.

"Some have recognized that we have emerged from this battle as a family. We are no longer workers of a company, we are the workers of the TIB. And with pride," they stated in a statement.

The first assembly of TIB workers, held this Friday, gave a majority support to the agreement reached between the union and the employers for the improvement of working conditions and the suspension of the indefinite strike, which lasted nine days.

Conflict

The TIB strike was called off this Friday, two weeks after the first 24-hour work stoppage by workers, which began with incidents at the depot, where seven buses were damaged by rock-throwing.

The initial day of strike was followed by two more 24-hour stoppages and, since last Friday, an indefinite strike, with a follow-up rate of between 85 and 95%.

During this time, the union and employers have been negotiating to reach an agreement, with numerous meetings at the Balearic Islands Court of Arbitration and Mediation (Tamib) and contacts with the government, emphasizing their intention to "facilitate" understanding between the parties.

Finally, on Thursday night, the SATI union and the Balearic Transport Business Federation (FEBT) reached a preliminary agreement to call off the strike. This agreement includes an 8.5% salary increase plus CPI increases over four years and various improvements related to vacation and rest periods.
