PalmThe IbSalut has set the minimum services for the fourth week of medical strike called against the reform of the framework statute promoted by the Ministry of Health. The stoppages, maintained by the Balearic Medical Union (Simebal-CESM), will take place between May 18 and 22.

As reported by the Ministry of Health, the strike will begin at 00:00 on Monday and will end at 23:59 on Friday. In centers with multiple shifts, the stoppage will begin with the first shift on the 18th and will end when the last shift on the 22nd concludes, even if it extends beyond midnight.

The minimum services include reinforcements in certain hospital specialties. Thus, in medical services with admitted patients and in central services attending to inpatients, there will be one more specialist on the morning shift compared to the usual arrangements on holidays. In the case of the anesthesia service, the increase will be two specialists.

The presence of a doctor will also be guaranteed in care services that do not have on-call duty on holidays. Regarding central services, 30% of ordinary activity will be maintained, a percentage that will increase to 50% in the radiophysics service and in hematology and hemotherapy.

Services considered urgent or critical will maintain 100% of assistance to ensure both programmed activity and continuity of treatments. This is the case for areas such as oncology, medical and radiotherapeutic hematology, oncological surgery, emergencies, dialysis, day hospitals, and hospital pharmacy.

In addition, the usual on-call services will be maintained to guarantee care in cases of extraordinary emergencies that cannot be handled by the available staff at that time.

In the area of primary care, during the morning shift —from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.— there will be one doctor and one pediatrician per health center. In centers with more than 20,500 health cards, the provision will be two doctors and one pediatrician. In the afternoon shift, between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., at least one doctor and one pediatrician will be guaranteed if the center has them.

Regarding the continuous care points (PAC), between 3:00 PM and 11:59 PM, all professionals who usually cover this service will be available. 100% coverage will also be guaranteed for emergency and urgent services, such as SUAP and 061. The Ministry has recalled that MIR personnel will not have minimum services due to the specific characteristics of their employment relationship.

Simebal-CESM maintains the strike call in the face of the "null response" from the Ministry of Health and the Spanish government when negotiating with the strike committee. During all days of the strikes, gatherings have been called at 8:30 AM in the different hospitals of the Islands in support of the professionals covering the minimum services.
