PalmThe Franz Weber Foundation will propose that Palma's 'Child-Friendly City' label be removed, considering the Court "complicit by omission" in the admission of children and adolescents to bullfighting events, thus ignoring the objection of the UNICEF Committee on the Rights of the Child on the matter.

The naturalist organization has emphasized, in a statement, that the 'Child-Friendly City' declaration implies compliance with "every objection formulated by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child," but Palma City Council will allow minors to attend this scheduled bullfight. They denounce the "cronyism" of Palma's mayor, Jaime Martínez, with bullfighting clubs and his failure to address the concerns also expressed by the Ombudsman.

For all these reasons, the organization will request that "this seal of recognition for childhood policies be temporarily suspended in the municipality" for not developing specific policies to prevent children and adolescents "from being exposed to violence by their own families."

The foundation criticizes the fact that the offer of tickets for minors for €9 "has not received any institutional response" and that even the Balearic Office for Children and Adolescents (OBIA) has ignored warnings about non-compliance with the Concluding Observations of the Committee on the Rights of Children. "Palma has not only ignored the warnings, nor has it implemented any measures to prevent the entry of vulnerable groups," adds the organization, which claims the joint responsibility of the Administration in the education and care for the protection of minors.
