PalmaProgreso en Verde demanded this Monday the definitive abolition of the Fornalutx bull-run, which will take place this Saturday, considering it an act of “animal abuse and exploitation”.

In a statement, the animal rights party rejected the celebration of the event and criticized that it is held, as it asserts, “for the amusement of a few soulless people” and with the applause of political representatives from the PP.

The president of Progreso en Verde, Guillermo Amengual, has defended that the Fornalutx bull-run “should have been banned years ago” and has attributed its continuity to the lack of political agreement to put an end to these types of spectacles.

In this sense, Amengual has directly pointed to the PSOE, MÉS, and Podem for their role in 2017, when, according to the animal rights leader, “the betrayal” of the three parties to animal defenders prevented achieving “a historic success in the Balearic Islands”.

The president of Progreso en Verde has also attacked the different regional governments, regardless of their political color. “It makes no difference who governs the Balearic Islands, left or right, none of them care about animal suffering,” he stated.

Amengual has accused the parties of acting “some out of cowardice and others because they defend the mistreatment of animals” and has concluded that this situation turns the Balearic Islands, in his opinion, “into a paradise of animal abuse and suffering”.
