They denounce a property in Manacor for having a private golf course and abusing water
Terraferida has presented the complaint before the Department of the Sea and Water Cycle of the Government
ManacorTerraferida has filed a complaint with the Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle of the Government so that it investigates the consumption of water resources generated by a farm in Manacor and another in Llucmajor that have individual golf courses.
Inventory of the destruction of Mallorca 2015-2024The territory defense collective considers that these two cases are an example of the "exaggerated and sumptuous consumption that occurs on the rustic land" of Mallorca.
Based on all these arguments, Terraferida asks the Directorate General of Water Resources to investigate this matter to determine if water resources are compromised, in the context of the difficulties the island is suffering and which has forced some municipalities to apply restrictive measures.
The complaint mentions a recent study by Terraferida titled Inventory of the Destruction of Mallorca 2015-2024, through which the artificialization process of the rustic land was detailed. The analysis revealed that 546 hectares of agricultural and forest land on the island have been artificialized, the equivalent of about 2,100 football fields.
In total, during the period 2015-2024, 2,000 new homes have been built and 2,000 more rural buildings have been expanded or converted.
17 swimming pools per week
In this period, according to the analysis provided by Terraferida, more than 5,000 new swimming pools have been counted, “that is, 17 swimming pools built and finished every week for 9 years, and 5 large chalets built and finished every week”.
