The woman who would have killed the mother-in-law in Pere Garau says she acted in self-defense

PalmaThe 36-year-old woman arrested this Monday for allegedly killing her 73-year-old mother-in-law in a Pere Garau home has attended the home this midday to participate in a reconstruction of events.

The woman, who claimed to have acted in self-defense, arrived at the scene minutes before 12:00 PM this Tuesday, handcuffed, in a white protective suit and guarded by two officers. The reconstruction, in which National Police officers participated alongside the judicial commission formed by the judge, the prosecutor, and the clerk of the court, lasted approximately one hour.

The arrested woman spent her first night in the cells and the Homicide Unit has taken charge of the investigation and has interrogated the first witnesses to assess, among other issues, the veracity of the woman's argument, which claims she acted to repel an attack by the victim.

The National Police arrested the alleged murderer this Monday at the home where the events took place. When the National Police officers arrived, they found the body, which showed signs of violence. The first hypotheses suggest that the accused would have killed the victim by beating. According to police sources, the events occurred between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM this Monday in a home located on Benito Pons i Fàbregas street in the Mallorcan capital.

Witnesses gathered by the officers assure that the two women, who lived together, had had a fight that led to an assault by the daughter-in-law on the mother-in-law. Immediately, the alleged murderer informed her partner, the victim's son, of the death, who went to the home and alerted the Police.

The first to move to the scene of the events were the local police officers, who were already at the residence when the National Police forces arrived. The same sources did not specify the type of injuries the victim presented. When the officers arrived at the residence where the victim and aggressor lived, they located the suspected woman as she was trying to flee the building, at which point she was intercepted near the entrance. Subsequently, she was arrested by the National Police as the alleged perpetrator of a homicide offense.

At present, the Homicide Group of the National Police of Palma has taken charge of the case and has initiated the relevant investigation. The officers are awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine the cause of death.
