PalmaThe Brunzit de Canamunt Neighbors Association and the popular cultural centers La Fonera and l'Elèctrica have reported that, with only two days left until the celebration of the Sopar a la Llesca, included in the Canamunt 2026 Festivals program, they have been informed by telephone that their request to occupy Cort square will not be authorized.
According to the entities, the communication was made without any official notification or reasoned resolution justifying the denial. They assure that the permit was processed in May, within the established deadline, and that the activity had the same characteristics as other similar events authorized this past summer.
The organizers state that the celebration did not affect vehicle circulation and that the removal of terraces was planned for reasons of public interest, as has been done on other occasions. They also point out that, this Monday, the requested tables and chairs were already installed in the Plaça de Cort.
Given this situation, the entities have registered an instance to request explanations and are awaiting a municipal response. For the moment, they assure that they cannot guarantee that the "Sopar a la Llesca" can be held at the planned location, although they maintain the call for residents to meet on Wednesday. "We will find a way to see each other," they state in the press release. This newspaper has contacted the Palma City Council to obtain their version of events and is awaiting a response.
