PalmThe partial collapse of a hotel in Calvià on Thursday night led to the partial evacuation of the establishment and the sealing off of the affected area, as reported by the Mallorca Fire Department. Two people sustained minor injuries, both with superficial wounds and one case of fainting. This Friday, the property's management has decided to close the hotel for safety reasons, and guests are being relocated to other hotels in the area.

The events took place around 9:00 PM at the Zafiro Rey Don Jaime hotel, when a part of the sanitary slab collapsed, affecting approximately 30 square meters of the ceiling. Given the situation, a partial evacuation of the hotel was carried out to ensure the safety of guests and staff.

Once the structure was reviewed, the firefighters decided to cordon off the affected area and drew up a report with precautionary measures, which was handed over to the Local Police and the establishment's owners. Personnel from the Calvià fire station, including a sergeant, a staff officer, and specialized technicians, were dispatched to the scene.

Municipal technicians are collaborating with the Judicial Police, who have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the incident. The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, explained to IB3 Ràdio that the event "was a scare".

The Calvià City Council explained that, initially, tourists had been able to return to the hotel, although some had left it. The injured were transferred to the Juaneda clinic.
