The incident has affected about 30 square meters of the sanitary ceiling. Firefighters have sealed off the area while the causes are being investigated
PalmThe partial collapse of a hotel in Calvià this Thursday night has led to the partial evacuation of the establishment and the sealing off of the affected area, according to the Mallorca Firefighters. Two people have suffered minor injuries, both with superficial wounds and one with fainting.
The events took place around 9 PM at the Zafiro Rey Don Jaime hotel, when a part of the sanitary slab collapsed, affecting approximately 30 square meters of the ceiling. Given the situation, a partial evacuation of the hotel was carried out to ensure the safety of guests and staff.
Once the structure had been reviewed, the firefighters decided to cordon off the affected area and drew up a report with precautionary measures, which was handed over to the Local Police and the establishment's owners. Personnel from the Calvià fire station were dispatched to the scene, including a sergeant, a staff sergeant, and specialized technicians.
Municipal technicians are collaborating with the Judicial Police, who have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the incident. The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, explained to IB3 Ràdio that the event "was more of a scare".
The Calvià City Council explained that the tourists were able to return to the hotel, although some of them left it. The injured were transferred to the Juaneda clinic.
