Emergencies activate yellow alert for rain this Sunday in Mallorca
The service has asked citizens to exercise caution in the coming hours.
PalmThe 112 Emergency Service in the Balearic Islands has activated the Severity Index 0 (IG0) of the Meteobal Plan in Mallorca due to the forecast of rain on the island.
In a message on the social network X, Emergencies has reported the activation of the alert for adverse weather in Mallorca, which responds to the yellow warning established by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for this Sunday.
The Tramuntana mountain range will be at risk of rain from 11:00 a.m. to 4:59 p.m., with an expected hourly rainfall of up to 20 l/m². Locally, a buildup of between 40 and 60 l/m² is possible.
Given this scenario, the Emergency Service has asked the public to exercise caution in the coming hours, follow their advice, and call 112 in case of emergency.
Emergency advice in case of rain and storms includes the following: if you are at home, take measures to prevent water from entering by securing doors and windows, do not leave objects or furniture that could be swept away by the water, do not stay in flood-prone areas of the home, do not go down to flood-prone areas of the home, and turn off the main electricity switch; if you are driving, reduce your speed, maintain a safe distance, and travel on main roads.
