PalmThe State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) will activate a yellow warning this Thursday for coastal phenomena and wind gusts that could reach 100 kilometers per hour (km/h) in the Balearic Islands.
The warning will be activated between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in Mallorca, Ibiza, and Formentera, and between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. in Menorca, Aemet reported. In southern Mallorca, strong wind gusts are expected, generally around 70 km/h but could reach 100 km/h in mountains and peaks.
On the coast, with the exception of the north, wind gusts will range between 50 and 60 km/h and waves could reach three meters in height. Given this situation, Palma City Council has announced that it will display a red flag on all of the municipality's beaches and close the Sagrera promenade and the Riera and Bellver parks between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Gusts of between 50 and 60 km/h and waves of three meters high could be expected along the coast of the Pitiusas. Meanwhile, Menorca will be affected by coastal phenomena that could also bring winds of between 50 and 60 km/h and waves of three meters high.
