A woman is under investigation for driving the wrong way in a roundabout and causing a fatal accident in Alcúdia.
The young woman had initially said that the driver of the vehicle that caused the fatal accident was the man who lost his life in the incident.
PalmThe Civil Guard is investigating a woman accused of manslaughter and three counts of serious negligence, after concluding that she was driving the vehicle that caused the fatal accident, not the deceased man, as initially believed.
The accident, which occurred on November 17th on the Ma-3460 highway, happened when the car driven by the suspect entered a roundabout against traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle traveling correctly, resulting in one death and four serious injuries. As reported this Wednesday by the Civil Guard, a 53-year-old man, who died, and a 29-year-old woman, both from the Netherlands, were traveling in the car that caused the accident. The woman initially claimed that the deceased man was driving the car, a claim that could not be corroborated by any witnesses. The Civil Guard Traffic Unit launched an investigation to determine the causes of the accident. Based on the evidence, damage, and forensic reports, it was determined that the woman was driving the car. As a result, the woman faces charges that could carry prison sentences of one to four years and the suspension of her driving license for up to six years.
