Yellow warning activated for high temperature in Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera

PalmaThe State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the yellow warning this Saturday in Mallorca, Ibiza, and Formentera due to high temperatures. These days the Islands are expected to reach maximum temperatures of 36 and 38 degrees (ºC), according to information from Aemet, which keeps the warnings active between 12 PM and 8 PM.

The highest values will be recorded in the interior and south of Mallorca (38ºC), while in the Serra de Tramuntana and the Pitiusas, temperatures are expected to reach 36ºC. Given this forecast, the Balearic Islands Emergency service has activated the yellow alert (IG-0 of the Meteobal Plan) for high temperatures.

The 112, in a message on social networks, requests citizens to follow self-protection advice to avoid heatstroke. It also warns of the high risk of fire level.

Due to the high temperatures, 112 advises seeking shade, covering your head, wearing light clothing, drinking plenty of water, eating light meals, closing blinds and windows during the hottest hours, and always using sun protection.

It also recommends avoiding physical exercise during the hours of maximum insolation (between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM), avoiding alcoholic beverages and caffeine, as well as not leaving minors, the elderly, or animals in the car with the windows closed.

It should be remembered that a large part of the Archipelago is at maximum risk of forest fire this Saturday (Fire Alert 4). Therefore, burning in forest areas is prohibited.
