PalmaThe Directorate General of Emergencies maintains the yellow alert for high temperatures in Mallorca and the Pitiüses Islands. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) activates the alert at midday in Mallorca: the temperature could reach 36ºC in the north and northeast of the island, while inland the maximum will be 37ºC. Regarding Ibiza and Formentera, temperatures can reach 36ºC. The warning will remain in effect until 7:00 PM. Starting Tuesday, it extends to Menorca, with highs of 36ºC, and the alert will remain active in the rest of the islands in the following days.
On the other hand, last night torrid night lows of 26ºC were recorded in Capdepera, and tropical temperatures in other locations such as Banyalbufar, Cabrera, Colònia de Sant Pere, and Llucmajor, where the temperature did not drop below 20ºC. In Menorca, the highest temperature was recorded in Mercadal (24º), in La Mola and Ciutadella (23ºC). In contrast, Formentera reached a minimum of 20ºC and Ibiza remained below tropical temperature.
Given the high temperature alert, 112 advises seeking shade and maintaining hydration, as well as wearing light clothing and sheltering during the hottest hours. Likewise, it recommends avoiding physical exercise at midday and alcoholic beverages and caffeine, in addition to not leaving minors, the elderly, or animals inside a car without ventilation. It has emphasized the recommendation to use sunscreen.
