Cucorba receives the tribute of Majorcan music in Inca
'Thanks, Cucorba!' will bring together this Saturday a dozen artists in the Plaça de Mallorca to celebrate the almost five decades of the group's trajectory
PalmaThe Plaça de Mallorca in Inca will become a meeting point this Saturday, September 19, for several generations of musicians to pay tribute to Cucorba, one of the children's music groups most linked to the popular culture in Catalan of Mallorca. The concert, organized by the Obra Cultural Balear (OCB), will begin at 7:30 PM.
Under the name 'Thank you, Cucorba!', the event will bring together the current members of the group with four former members: Miquel Brunet, Toni Colomar, Kake Portas, and Miquel Àngel Oñate. Artists and groups from the Mallorcan music scene such as Ánimos Parrec, Juanjo Monserrat, Marta Elka, Natalia Tascón, O-Erra, Sedaç, Tiu, and Umbert will also participate.
The meeting will serve to recover on stage some of the songs that have accompanied generations of children in schools, parties, and other spaces in Mallorca for almost five decades. The concert comes after Cucorba announced the end of their career.
The OCB had already recognized the group in 2023 with the Aina Moll award of the 31 de Desembre awards, in recognition of their career and their contribution to the dissemination of music, games, and tales among children.
The concert will also offer some interventions and meetings between the different guest musicians, with the intention of bringing together on the same stage artists who have been part of the history of Cucorba and other voices of current Mallorcan music.
