Some cultural recommendations for next week

The week begins with Cati Moyà
I will be at Can Gelabert in Binissalem to enjoy a new opportunity to see two of the leading artists on the Mallorcan scene, Joana Gomila and Laia Vallès, in action. After touring the music scene with projects such as Folk Souvenir and Paradise, and once the project of converting Suralita into a reference center in the artistic field and a meeting point for people, ideas and initiatives is consolidated, the two creators will be in Binissalem to launch their project Puput Lab, an experimental sound improvisation laboratory. In each session of this unique open project, a musician, thinker, or artist is invited to share the play, exploration, and spirit with them and all attendees. Thursday, August 21st, at 9 p.m.
Trescaré between the pages of one of my favorite books: Bam!, by Miguel Noguera. With his usual lucidity, the comedian combines existential questions with current issues in a series of cartoons that surprise with their originality and spontaneity, serving both to reconnect with the world and to make us lose all hope. Blackie Books.
I will trust from the label of Raphael Bob-Waksberg, creator of the unmistakable BoJack Horseman. Now he premieres a new animated series for adults, centered on a very peculiar family and titled Long Story Short. Coming August 22nd on Netflix.
I will listen Alícia Miquel's first album, Sentimental, a work that had already advanced with songs like 'CGFT' and 'The prime of life' and that arrives five years after having become known with singles like 'Right time' and 'Until I live'.
I'll be back in Binissalem, in the Garden of the Casa Llorenç Villalonga, to attend the performance of Verbagalia, a Centaure Produccions show that brings together two of Víctor Català's most representative and important plays. Written in 1899, the plays confront the protagonists with existential abysses as terrifying as they are pathetic. The performance is part of the programming of the Mallorca Literary Foundation's La Luna En Verso series. Saturday, August 23, at 9 p.m.
The week begins with JA Mendiola
I will enjoy from the fifth concert of the Pollença Festival, where the Helix Trio, a Basel-based ensemble consisting of Jaume Angelès on violin, Iago Domínguez on cello, and Paula Belzunegui on piano, will perform in the Sant Domingo cloister. Joaquín Turina, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Franz Schubert will be the passive subjects of another quite interesting and, in a way, novel evening, as ensembles of this type are not usual. Sketches of undeniable quality, whose structure has served composers as a field of research for larger pieces, both for instruments and for teachers. It was another path to the symphony. Wednesday, August 20, at 10 p.m.
I will go to CineCiutat to see, in its original version, one of the films that currently has the greatest prestige in the billboard. My favorite dessert, by Maryam Moghadam and Behtash Sanaeeha. An intimate and personal drama about love and aging, but also a brave cry of rebellion in Iran, a country where almost everything is prohibited.
I'll see The exhibition at the Sa Pleta Freda gallery, where, to celebrate its fiftieth anniversary, the artist Toni Esteva has installed a collection of pieces that delicately and exquisitely reflect the relationship with his pioneering and emblematic gallery, which is truly art history in Mallorca. The title is significant: Introspective.
I will recommend Go to the town of Deià, specifically to the historic Son Marroig estate, which is the ancestral home of the immense Deià International Music Festival, where Chinese pianist Cao Yuan Feng will perform as part of the Euroregio Piano Series 2025. The event will be on Wednesday, August 20, at 8:30 p.m.
I will address in the Cloister of Sant Domingo, again at the 64th Pollença Festival, to see and hear the pianist Iván Martín, accompanied by his unique formation, the Galdós Ensemble, a group of musicians who make up a small string orchestra that covers everything from the Baroque to the present day. A good example is the program they will offer. Two compositions by Chopin, Piano Concerto No. 2 and the Piano Concerto No. 1, in a chamber version with arrangements by Iván Martín himself. Saturday, August 23, at 10 p.m.
