The Estudi General Lul·lià dedicates a seminar to Josep Maria Llompart for the centenary of his birth.

The seminar "Beauty and Struggle" will bring together several specialists to analyze the literary career and civic commitment of the Mallorcan writer.

PalmThis Saturday, October 18, the Estudi General Lul·lià joins the commemoration of the centenary of the birth of Josep Maria Llompart (Palma, 1925-1993) with the organization of a seminar dedicated to his figure and his work, under the title Beauty and struggleThe event, which will take place at the institution's headquarters starting at 10 a.m., is open to the public and admission is free.

Renowned scholars and writers will participate in the seminar, analyzing different aspects of the literary and civic career of Llompart, one of the most relevant voices in contemporary Catalan literature and a leader in the defense of the language and culture. Llompart also taught Catalan literature at the Estudi General Lul·lià, when the building housed the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Barcelona.

Among the participants is Maria Antònia Perelló Femenia, a doctor in Catalan Language and Literature, who will open the day with a presentation. Childhood and death in the literary portrait of Josep M. LlompartHe will be followed by Joan Mas i Vives, professor of Catalan Philology at the University of the Balearic Islands, with a talk on The poetic beginnings of Josep Maria Llompart, and Miquel Cardell, writer and journalist, who will analyze the Influence of Josep Maria Llompart on contemporary Majorcan poetry.

For his part, the activist and writer Jaume Mateu i Martí, former president of the Balear Cultural Work, will delve into The civic commitment of Josep Maria LlompartThe panel discussion following the presentations will be moderated by Margalida Pons, professor of Catalan Philology and General Linguistics.

In addition to the academic presentations, attendees will be able to visit the traveling exhibition on the last day. Llompart Constellation, created by the Institute of Catalan Letters to commemorate the centenary. The exhibition traces the life and literary career of the poet, prose writer, critic, translator, editor, and activist in six panels, through texts and graphic materials.

The exhibition, which has been on display at the Estudi General Lul·lià since September 29, is in collaboration with the Institute of Balearic Studies and Baules de Llengua, and is curated by Jaume C. Pons Alorda.
