Fairies, heralds of the Palma Book Fair

The Majorcan Catalan urban music group will inaugurate the 44th edition, which will take place from May 29 to June 7 in the Plaza de España

14/05/2026

PalmThe Mallorcan group Fades will be in charge of giving the opening speech for the 44th edition of the Palma Book Fair on May 29th in Plaça d'Espanya. The trio, formed by Vicenç Calafell, Ferran Pi, and Àngel Exojo, will officially inaugurate the event with a ceremony hosted by journalist Margalida Mateu at 6:30 PM.

The Guild of Booksellers of Mallorca thus maintains the line initiated last year of broadening the profile of the opening speakers beyond writers. While in 2025 the opening speakers were editors Lleonard Muntaner and Maria Muntaner, this year the entity vindicates the role of other cultural agents linked to the dissemination and vitality of Catalan culture.

In a statement sent by the Guild of Booksellers, the members of Fades highlight their connection with Palma and with the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where they met while studying Catalan Philology. They also recall their participation in cultural initiatives in the city, such as Orgull Llonguet and the Diada de Mallorca in Plaça del Tub, as well as the recognition they received with the Siurell Rosa 2024 award from Ben Amics, in addition to the Enderrock Balears awards.

In just over three years, Fades has established itself as one of the most visible acts on the Catalan music scene. The group debuted in 2023 with Amigues i autotune, which includes songs like Gay Revenge, and last year released Metallix, featuring collaborations with Plan-ET and LaFrancesssa. They also co-wrote Mon Cheri Go Home, with Maria Jaume, which was awarded best song at the Premios Enderrock de la Música Balear. The group also received the award for best urban music album for Metallix.
