How was David Ordinas, according to his friend: "He sang and played bass in a 'heavy' band"
Xisco Pericàs, friend of the presenter of 'Jo en sé més que tu' (IB3), comedian and actor, tells us the best-kept secrets of his childhood
PalmaBorn in 1979 in Palma. He has roots in Felanitx (on his mother's side) and Santa Margalida (on his father's side). He has lived in Madrid for years, but, in the eyes of others, he has the power of omnipresence, because he can give the impression that he is everywhere. His favorite place in the world is Portocolom. He is the middle of three siblings and if one thing characterizes him it is that he has "inexhaustible energy". It is strange that someone doesn't know who he is, because every now and then he enters everyone's dining rooms, and it's not that he does it silently: we are talking about the television presenter David Ordinas (I know more than you, The best party…), who is also a singer, composer and actor. Xisco Pericàs introduces him to us, and they have known each other since they were four years old.
One of the first things Xisco says is that the David that people see on television (IB3) is the David who is there when the camera turns off. And he talks, directly, about when he was younger: "He has been a showman all his life. When we went on excursions, he was the companion who took the bus microphone, started singing and told jokes". The friend also refers to the calf they had at home that David and his siblings (Marc is the oldest and Marga, the youngest) looked after: "I know he used to sing coplas to them, because he repeated them, and that marked him. Show business has been with him since he was little".
With his studies, he points out, David was "average", especially before adolescence. When they were a little older, the presenter's circle did realize that his interest in everything related to creativity "was serious" and that his "artistic" side was developing more and more. In fact, before he was 18, they formed a heavy metal music group called Límit: "David sang and played the bass – now he plays a lot more instruments, he plays everything! With the group we played some concerts in Caimari and we won a music contest that was held during the Sant Cristòfol festival in l'Arenal. I don't think I was playing anymore at that time", he recalls.
Before entering university, he spent a year in the United States and returned amazed by shows like Saturday Night Live: “I think since then he would love to have a late night show in the style of Buenafuente”. And another thing he loved were the karaoke nights: “I have to confess that we liked to boast about our friend, because he sings very well, and he already did it twenty years ago. He used to sing Bon Jovi and Whitesnake songs, like Here I Go Again, and he put on a good show”. With the group, “in winter we would burn Gomila and during the summer we did the Mallorca Verbena Tour”.
Restless and nosy
David's character is "cheerful" and "full of energy and a sense of humor". Furthermore, Xisco says that "he is super generous and very supportive", as well as having a "very strong sense of justice": "If everyone is well, he is well". He also describes him as a very sensitive person, who gets hurt easily and gets emotional quickly. He is restless and a bit of a busybody. "But he also likes to stop and watch series or listen to music, to have his moment. In his apartment in Madrid he has a terrace where he has set up a studio and is always tinkering around there".
It might seem that this whole television thing was written in the stars, because David's character fits it like a glove, his friends think. But the fact is that David, and Xisco too, studied Tourism. Afterwards, at that moment of uncertainty, David started singing at the Conservatory, he auditioned for a musical, he was selected and everything that came after is history: "It's as if he was born for this".
After a life together, of trips, meals, excursions and karaoke, one of the things Xisco enjoys most about David is seeing him as a father: "He always said he wanted to be a father. The oldest is already 14 years old, but, as a friend, it moves me to see how he goes out of his way for them".
