Maria del Mar Bonet, Júlia Colom and Maria Jaume, Enderrock awards for Balearic music
Anna Ferrer, Joan Miquel Oliver, Carme Vives and Amulet also receive critic awards in some awards that will deliver the recognitions on November 18 at the Principal theater of Palma
PalmaThree of the most prominent voices in Majorcan music, Maria del Mar Bonet, Júlia Colom, and Maria Jaume, have been recognized by critics in the ninth edition of the Enderrock Balearic Music Awards. The awards will be presented on November 18th at the Teatre Principal in Palma.
Júlia Colom has been distinguished with the award for best album of the year for Paradís, while Maria Jaume has received the award for best artist of the year for Sant Domingo Forever. Maria del Mar Bonet, for her part, has been recognized with the special jury award for L’aigua no cansa.
The three recognitions place three Majorcan artists this year among the main winners by the awards' critics, which have featured the participation of about thirty journalists from the Balearic Islands and Catalonia.

The rest of the critics' awards have recognized other prominent names in the Islands' music scene. Anna Ferrer has won the award for best folk album for Pa, while Joan Miquel Oliver has been distinguished as best singer-songwriter pop album for Roïssos.
Carme Vives has received the award for best debut album for Expressions temporals and Amulet has been recognized in the best pop-rock album category for Es desastre. Completing the list are F/E/A, best rock album for Zona; Komodo García, best album in a non-Catalan language for Septiembre, and K12, best jazz album for Harduim Islands Songbook.
The critics' vote has also served to draw up a list of the 25 best albums of the year in the Islands, among which are Sa falda girada, by Pitxorines; Mala herba sempre creix, by Rudymentari, and Camino florido, by Ánimos Parrec.
Xanguito leads the popular nominations
In the awards decided by popular vote, the first phase has ended with 11,318 votes and about thirty finalists.
The group Xanguito leads the nominations, with three candidacies: best artist, best live performance, and best pop-rock album. Maria Jaume is up for the awards for best artist and best singer-songwriter pop album, while Pitxorines is a finalist in the categories of best live performance and best folk album.
The second phase of voting will remain open until October 18th on the Enderrock Balearic Music Awards portal. The winners will be announced during the gala on November 18th at the Teatre Principal in Palma, which will again be hosted by David Ordinas and Maria del Mar Coll.
The ceremony will include performances by Amulet, Pere Bujosa, Júlia Colom, Fora des Sembrat, Cris Juanico & MdMar, Projecte Mesquida, Terra i Sal, and Carme Vives, among others.
Traginada, Honorary award
Among the special recognitions, the Menorcan group Traginada will receive the Honorary award for its role in the recovery of the island's identity and in the dignification of the Catalan language during the Transition.
The Majorcan group Fora des Sembrat will receive the award for their career, while the children's musical band Curcuba will be distinguished with the personality award.
