PalmaPerifèria Cultural will land for the first time in Mallorca in 2026 with a program focused on historical memory, root music, and local gastronomy. The cycle will stop in Porreres and Mancor de la Vall on May 29 and 30 with a proposal that claims peripheral culture and narratives linked to the wounds of Francoism.

The arrival in Mallorca is part of an edition built "against oblivion and silence", according to sources from the organization. The project thus expands its presence in the Catalan Countries by incorporating an island perspective to a cultural journey that will reach 35 municipalities this year. The first day will take place on May 29 in Porreres with the show War, Exile, Revenge, starring Joan Lluís Bozzo and Annabel Villalonga. Perifèria Cultural's own production addresses the wounds of Francoist repression and turns historical memory into an act of resistance and denunciation.

The choice of Porreres is no coincidence. The municipality was the scene of one of the most tragic episodes of Francoist repression in Mallorca and now becomes a new symbolic space within the work's journey. “There are spaces where the wounds of Francoism are still visible even as the years pass. Porreres is one of those places”, states Francesc Ribera, Titot, artistic director of the cycle. As a prologue to the day, on May 28, the documentary La invasió dels bàrbars will be screened, a piece linked to the major themes that run through this edition of Perifèria Cultural, focused on memory, absences, and silences imposed for decades.

The festival will move to Mancor de la Vall on May 30 with an evening dedicated to Mediterranean music and oral transmission. The day will be led by Miquel Gil, one of the most prominent figures in root music in the Catalan Countries, with a proposal that combines tradition, poetry, and Mediterranean identity. The program will be completed with the performance of Miquela Lladó and Tiu, mother and daughter united by a project that reclaims traditional Mallorcan song through musicalized poems. The show will also feature the participation of Jordi Tugores and Pere Dàvila.

Gastronomy will be another of the protagonists of the Mallorcan landing. The two evenings will include a gastronomic proposal created by chef Metus Mustafa Demir with local, sustainable, and zero-kilometer products. “We are interested in building an experience coherent with the territory and with the way the cycle understands culture: from its roots and proximity”, explains Sergi de Meià, gastronomic advisor for the project. With this incorporation, Perifèria Cultural continues to consolidate itself as one of the most unique cultural initiatives in the Catalan Countries, with more than 100 shows planned for 2026 and new venues such as Mallorca, Matarranya, Terra Alta, and Northern Catalonia.
