Pitxorines brings its Majorcan folk to the music fairs of Manresa and Bilbao
The first performance will be on October 16, at the Fira Mediterrània in Manresa, and the second, in Bilbao, on October 27
PalmaThe Mallorcan group Pitxorines will participate this October in the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa and BIME Bilbao, two music industry gatherings that bring together artists, programmers, agents, festivals, and other professionals in the sector. The first performance will be on October 16 at 8:00 PM, at the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa, where the group will present their second work, Sa Falda Girada, in a 45-minute concert.
The album stems from research into the Mallorcan folk songbook and recovers materials from popular tales, xeremier melodies, boleros, ximbomba tunes, and songs linked to ancient trades and the world of childhood.
The group will later travel to Bilbao to participate on October 27 in BIME Live, as part of the programming for the fourteenth edition of BIME Bilbao, which combines professional music industry meetings with concerts and presentations.
Founded in 2023, Pitxorines brings together eight professionals and combines voices and percussion with traditional instruments, such as the xeremies, the flabiol, and the tamborí, along with transverse flute, viola, cello, double bass, and piano.
Their first work, Un so que no es gasta, was recognized in 2024 at the Enderrock Awards for Balearic Music as the best folk album by both critics and popular vote.
The group also received the Gota d'Oli award from the Consell de Mallorca and Oli de Mallorca for their contribution to preserving tradition through music.
