A statue in Palma and a massive concert will pay tribute to musician Víctor Uris.

The statue will be located in Fleming Square and a large selection of soloists and groups will participate in the concert.

PalmPalma's Alexander Fleming Square will host a tribute on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in memory of the musician Victor Uris, founder of the Armónica Coixa Blues Band and who died on April 3, 2024, at the age of 66. The event will consist of a concert and the unveiling of a statue. According to the City Council on Tuesday, the event, which has the support of Palma City Council, was organized at the request of residents, friends, musicians, and people who knew Víctor Uris closely.

The statue will be located in Fleming Square, and the concert will feature a large selection of soloists and groups who wished to join in the collective recognition of the Palma musician. The event was presented this Tuesday with the presence of the First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture, Javier Bonet, and the General Coordinator of Culture and Tourism, Fernando Gómez de la Cuesta, along with a large representation of the organizing group, led by the event coordinator, Òscar Fornés.

Also taking part in the event were the artist's widow, Silvia Schnut; the musician Pep Banyo, who shared the Armónica Coixa project with the honoree; the artist Margalida Escales; representatives of the ES Capitol neighborhood association; and other people who supported the implementation of the memorial event for Víctor Uris.

Among the singers and groups performing at the concert are well-known names such as Llorenç Santamaria, Jaume Sureda, Ossifar, Pep Baño, Jimmy Torres, Daniel Higiénico, Cap Pela, Big Yuyu, Los Peligrosos Gentlemen, Big Mama, Toni Rissos, Blues Beer Band, and Los At.

As for the sculpture created by Margalida Escalas, the piece reproduces a bench in the square in the shape of a harmonica. The author is a prestigious ceramist born in Santanyí who has done this work for free.
