The Teatro Principal sees a 7.1% increase in attendance at the start of the season
Between September and December it has received 22,473 spectators, driven by sold-out performances and good forecasts for the beginning of 2026
PalmThe Teatro Principal in Palma has closed the first part of the 2025-2026 season with a 7.1% increase in audience numbers compared to the same period last year. Between September and December, the cultural venue recorded a total of 22,473 spectators, compared to 20,976 in 2024. According to the Consell de Mallorca, this increase was boosted by several weekends with high occupancy rates, with performances selling out. This is the case of Cyrano, from Impatience, and GiantStarring Josep Maria Pou, these two productions have significantly contributed to the increased attendance.
The outlook for the beginning of 2026 is also positive. The show DarkAurora Bauzà and Pere Jou's production is showing high occupancy for the two performances scheduled for January 3rd and 4th in the smaller auditorium. Another highlight of the program is the revival of zarzuela, which is receiving a positive response from audiences. The three performances of The Pharaoh's CourtThe performances scheduled for January 9, 10, and 11 are nearing full capacity. The production is a collaboration between the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo and the Arriaga Theatre in Bilbao, with stage direction by Emilio Sagi and musical direction by Carlos Aragón. The director of the Teatro Principal, Miquel Martorell, expressed his gratitude for the public's support during this period and highlighted the warm reception of the Christmas program. "Thank you for sharing these holidays with the Principal. On behalf of the entire team, we wish you a 2026 filled with health and performing arts," he stated. The January program will be rounded out with notable offerings such as Memoirs of Adrià, by Marguerite Yourcenar, with Lluís Homar, which has already sold out for the single performance on the 24th; Winds of the people, by Pep Tosar, inspired by the work of Miguel Hernández, on the 29th and 30th; and In Macbeth song, a musical by Oriol Broggi based on Shakespeare and aimed especially at young audiences.
