Fernando Clemente opens his first solo exhibition in Mallorca at 6A
The Andalusian painter presents a visually powerful exhibition, with painting as its central focus and lithographic work created during his stays at Workshop 6A.
PalmThe 6A Workshop and Gallery begins its exhibition year with the first solo show on the island by Fernando Clemente (Jerez de la Frontera, 1975). The artist previously participated in the group exhibition. Sarrià at the end of 2024.
On this occasion, Clemente invites us to contemplate an interesting journey with painting as the undisputed protagonist, accompanied, as is customary in all 6A exhibitions, by original graphic works, the result of, in this case, two residencies the painter had at Workshop 6A. The artist emphasizes that "it is an honor to be able to work with this technique," which, he affirms, "undoubtedly adds to the work" and to his way of working, and moreover, in the best lithography workshop in Spain. "It is a gift that one cannot refuse when it is offered to you," he says. The exhibition, which can be visited from tomorrow, Wednesday, at 7:00 p.m. (the opening is from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.), highlights a body of work of great visual power that draws us into Clemente's most intimate world.
The Andalusian painter's signature style is present in each and every one of the works that make up this exceptional collection. The renowned artist, currently on the island and a great conversationalist, emphasizes when speaking about painting that "doubt has always been and still is here. What has changed over time is my perception of it and how I have come to accept it. Over the years I have learned that doubt doesn't have to be a weakness." In fact, the painter says that "each work is a great challenge, which I accept by painting and painting." The painter also speaks of his experience during his residencies at Workshop 6a: "This is indeed a great challenge that lithographic stone presents, because the doubts and opportunities are infinite and often unpredictable."
The results of the lithographic experience can be seen in the exhibition, along with all the recently created paintings. Only one piece from 2020,Bestiary and stickIt breaks with chronology. Clemente (a Fine Arts graduate from the University of Seville) has always pursued "the result of pictorial excellence" throughout his career. Following the opening in Mallorca, the artist will already be immersed in preparing for his participation in the ARC and his exhibition at the Centro Párraga (Murcia), in addition to other projects. The Gallery expresses its complete satisfaction at beginning the exhibition year with such a high-quality offering, a prelude to a pivotal year in which several important projects are planned.
