The world of comics is the focus of the new edition of the Barra Theater's Show Competition.

Starting this week, every Thursday, different restaurants in the Blanquerna area will host four performances of the five scheduled productions.

PalmThe Maruja Alfaro Mar i Terra municipal theater will host the grand finale of the twenty-seventh edition of the Barra Theater Show Competition on October 25th at 8:00 p.m., which was launched this Wednesday and is dedicated to the world of comics. The event, a well-established part of Palma's cultural calendar, has the support of Palma City Council and companies linked, for the most part, to the restaurant sector.

The competition will begin on September 18th and will take place every Thursday until October 23rd. It will comprise a total of six days of performances that will take place in restaurants located around the Blanquerna street area.

On each of these days (September 18 and 25, and October 2, 9, 16, and 23), four performances of the same work will be staged, at 7:30 p.m., 8:10 p.m., 8:50 p.m., and 9:30 p.m.

The pieces programmed for this new edition are as follows:

  • The Fall of the House of Wayne, a gothic tragicomedy written and directed by Xisco Joan and starring Pedro Orell and Enric Garcia. (Barca na Mercy)
  • Ding, a comedy written and directed by Marga Arrom, starring Catalina Rosell and Joan Manel Vadell (Bar Mavi).
  • Totor, a comedy written by Santi Celaya and directed by David Mataró, starring Aina Cortès and Guillem Juaneda (Bodega del Sol)
  • Between two worlds, a work defined as a twilight comic, written and directed by Josep R. Cerdà and starring Aina Zuazaga and Àlex Tejedor (Hotel Ars Magna).
  • Teo has a date, a comedy written by Deneb Alonso and directed by Luca Bonadei, starring Pat Aguiló and Toni de los Ángeles.

The information session, which took place at the Maruja Alfaro Mar i Terra space, was attended by the Director General of Music and Performing Arts, Rafel Brunet, and the series coordinator, Javier Matesanz, as well as two of the performers participating in this edition: Catalina Rosell and Pedro Orell.
