That's how it was and that's not...

What Queralt Albinyana was like, according to her mother: "She could do many things at once and do them well."

PalmShe was a vegetarian from birth until she had to eat lunch at school before adolescence. She loves the land and the countryside: as a young girl, she was part of a scouting group. In the 90s, in Menorca, you could still sleep on the beach and camp there. She has loved the water, the sea, since she was little, as well as dancing, singing, and acting; on screen, we have recently seen her in Favaritx (IB3), and a couple more years ago in Night and day and The stream (TV3). We're talking about Queralt Albinyana, a multifaceted actress, born in Terrassa (her father is from Cerdanyola and her mother from Terrassa) in 1980 and raised in Alaior from age 4 to 18. Her mother, Maria Dolors Armengol, tells us about her.

"She was a very calm, happy, and cheerful little doll. She quickly became a very independent little girl: she has two younger siblings. She went to and from school by herself, she was self-assured, and Alaior was a quiet town," recounts Maria Dolors, who adds, a little prematurely: "I suppose it happens when you have more than one child, you always see the youngest as younger than they are, and the oldest as older."

This experience helped Queralt, who loved dressing up, dancing, and singing, to become an independent and resourceful person. They didn't have a television at home, so the little girl spent her evenings at a friend's house watching it. Dragon BallThey didn't go to the cinema much either, but Maria Dolors remembers an anecdote from when they went to see Snow White At the Cine España in Alaior: "When the stepmother came on, Queralt would hide behind the armchair because she was scared." And every year at Christmas, they would go to Terrassa to visit her grandparents, so they would take the opportunity to watch the latest Disney movie: "She loved these movies because they were fantastical."

The Albinyana Armengol family didn't have a television, but they did have a record player: "I would play vinyl records of children's stories and songs for them, and they knew them by heart. They even put on little plays of the stories." It's impossible to know when Queralt caught the acting bug, but her mother says that "she wanted to be an artist" and she was sure of it "all her life."

From a very young age, she took music and dance classes. At three or four years old, she was already taking dance classes, and before she turned six, she began singing lessons with the soprano Martina Garriga. Later, when the Municipal Music School opened, she enrolled and continued until she was older. "She studied solfège, singing, and a little piano. She also went to the dance school in Alaior. She juggled school with all these activities, rushing off at the end of each term, and I felt bad for her! But she found time to do everything: she's very responsible. She's always had a great work ethic."

It's as if Queralt had been preparing her whole life to enter the Institut del Teatre when she turned 18. "Since we knew it would be difficult for her to get in, and she was also very creative with painting and drawing, we enrolled her in Fine Arts. We lost that enrollment because we were lucky enough that she was able to fulfill her dream of entering the Institut del Teatre on her first try." And since she turned 18, she no longer lives in Menorca, although she returns often: "She has roots, family, and friends here."

"She loves to give and receive. She's generous, a very good person, and always looking out for others. She's very healthy, both physically and mentally. She has her weaknesses because she's very sensitive, but she's a strong woman. She's a wonderful mother to her son, a wonderful partner to her husband, and a wonderful daughter." And if we didn't have more pages, Maria Dolors would have even more praise for Queralt: "What do you want me to do? We're her mother!"
