Muro's new nursery for children aged 0-3 starts the school year with 74 places.

The Muro City Council has built the structure thanks to a grant of 978,428 euros awarded by the Regional Ministry.

PalmThe Regional Ministry of Education and Universities has inaugurated the new Guillem Ballester i Cerdó nursery school in the municipality of Muro. This early childhood education center with capacity for 74 places is directly managed by the regional government. The Regional Minister of Education, Antoni Vera, and the Director General of Early Childhood, Diversity, and Educational Improvement, Neus Riera, participated in the inauguration ceremony, accompanied by the Mayor of Muro, Miquel Porquer.

This new center, which began operating this academic year, is part of the public network of daycare centers managed by the Regional Ministry. Its construction was promoted by the Muro City Council thanks to a grant of €978,428 awarded by the Regional Ministry, as part of the call for aid to create and consolidate public early childhood education places.

€2.4 million

The call is part of a program funded by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training and the European Union (NextGenerationEU), within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. The total cost of the project was €2.4 million. The Regional Ministry has provided the center with the necessary educational staff, consisting of a head teacher, five early childhood education technicians, and two teachers. During the inauguration, Regional Minister Antoni Vera reaffirmed the Government's commitment to the 0-3 education stage, highlighting that more than 14,140 public places are offered for the 2025-2026 academic year, an increase of 1,702 places compared to the previous academic year.

In addition to the new nursery in Muro, the Regional Ministry will directly manage other newly created centers such as Ca Baix Sol in Marratxí, the Santa Eulalia and San Rafael nurseries in San Antonio de Portmany, as well as several 0-3 year old classrooms set up as CEIP (Primary Education Centres) throughout the region: Sant Carles (Santa Palmas, Estellenses), Miquel Porcel (Palma), La Indiotería (Palma) and Caimari. All these places are included in the free first cycle of Early Childhood Education measure, initiated by the Government in the 2023-2024 academic year, with the aim of making education universal at all stages and promoting family conciliation.
