PalmaThe IB-Salut plans to incorporate nearly 200 nurses into the Community's health centers through an extraordinary integration process for staff destined for professionals with the specialty of Family and Community Nursing.

The measure comes in a context of a deficit of professionals in the Balearic health system and difficulties in retaining staff. In fact, recent reports have warned that dozens of nurses have left the Islands in recent months due to living and working conditions, especially the cost of housing and lack of stability, a trend that the health sector links to the growing pressure on the system.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health of the Balearic Islands, the forecast is that, once the process is completed, nearly 30% of the Primary Care staff will be made up of specialist nurses. The objective of the initiative is to recognize training in Family and Community Nursing and to move towards the progressive substitution of generic positions with posts occupied by professionals who have completed their residency.
