TVE's new Catalan-language Channel 2 launches, but it's still unknown when it will be available in the Balearic Islands.

Islanders will be able to enjoy all the programming through the RTVE Play app.

PalmThis Monday, La2Cat, the TVE channel, launches its entire programming in Catalan. However, the channel will only be available through Digital Terrestrial Television in Catalonia. Despite the agreement between the OCB and TVE and the approval of the Catalan Parliament, for technical and communication reasons between the parties involved, it is still unknown when this channel will be available in the Balearic Islands. However, islanders who want to enjoy the programming can now do so through the RTVE Play app.

The problem delaying its broadcast on DTT is purely technical, as the Catalan Parliament has approved measures to guarantee the channel's broadcast, and RTVE and its president, José Pablo López, have committed to guaranteeing the reception of the children's and youth channel Clan in Catalan, with Catalan being activated by default on R4 broadcasts.

Government sources assure that they have not received "any news or communication" regarding the channel's broadcast and assure that they are still waiting for RTVE to begin broadcasting this channel on the Balearic Islands' DTT. They emphasize that the launch of the service depends on Spanish public television and that it is they who must determine the technical aspects to activate it.
