The OCB asks the president of RTVE for a solution to allow 2CAT to be broadcast in the Balearic Islands.
José Pablo López has committed to guaranteeing the reception of Clan in Catalan from the moment it begins broadcasting in Catalonia.

PalmThe president of the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation (RTVE), José Pablo López, has explained to the president of the Balearic Cultural Work (OCB), Antoni Llabrés, the technical possibilities that would allow reception of the new 2CAT channel in the Balearic Islands, as the island entity demands. López has guaranteed reception of the children's and youth channel Clan in Catalan, the activation of Catalan by default in dual-mode transmissions, and immediate reception of Radio 4 broadcasts.
The head of RTVE has expressed his support for the 2CAT channel's production to reach all Catalan-speaking territories and has highlighted the territorial center and private audiovisual production companies, according to the OCB.
According to the entity, the negotiation for this reception via DTT is in the process of defining a possible technical solution to make it effective, and various reception options through different DTT channels are being explored.

Llabrés has valued the meeting and has assured that, "to advance towards linguistic normalization, it is necessary that Catalan be present in all areas, including state public media."
"Historic task"
The president recalled the "historic task" of the OCB in achieving, 40 years ago, the reception of radio and television in Catalan in the Balearic Islands of channels from Catalonia and the Valencian Community, such as TV3, C33, 3/24 and Canal 9. The OCB has recalled that broadcasting in Catalan on RTVE channels in the Balearic Islands must increase because the Constitution, the Statute of Autonomy and the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages oblige Spain to protect and promote the official languages of the different territories.
