Buades, former Vox member: "Preaching and doing the opposite is a political scam."

The dissident charges against the fact that, while demanding that parties not be financed with public money, the party receives

PalmThis is the second installment of the war unleashed between former Vox deputies Idoia Ribas and Agustín Buades and the remnants of the parliamentary group, five deputies who remain loyal to Santiago Abascal's leadership. At the beginning of the term, there were eight. In a press conference, Buades returned to the attack on his former party this Monday and reiterated the accusations Ribas made last week. "Vox demands that parties, employers' associations, and unions not be financed with public money, but then does the opposite," he remarked. "Preaching and doing the opposite, that's called political fraud."

Buades recalled that in the 2024 budget, during which he was still a member of the party, Vox negotiators "managed to introduce an amendment to remove all publicly funded subsidies from employers' associations and unions." "When a party preaches and says it doesn't want public funds, what it cannot do next is divert public money from this parliamentary group to Vox Spain," he continued. In this regard, the two non-affiliated deputies have presented a non-legislative motion to the table in which they propose amending the Law on Party Financing to prevent parliamentary groups from allocating their expenses to parties. However, to push this motion forward, they would need a parliamentary group to adopt it as their own, which is unlikely.

Vox denounces "lies, insults, and slander"

"Lies, insults, and slander are not discussed in press conferences or in the media," said Manuela Cañadas, leader of the Vox parliamentary group. The MP stated that "the parliamentary group's accounts are public": "If I saw any irregularities, I wouldn't come and report them; I would go directly to court." Cañadas did not clarify whether the party is considering taking legal action regarding these accusations.
