Fernando Fernández resigns as Director General of Agriculture
He will be replaced by Georgina Brunet, manager of the IRFAP since 2019
PalmaThe Director General of Agriculture, Fernando Fernández, has resigned from his position for personal reasons and will be replaced by Georgina Brunet. This was reported by the first vice-president and government spokesperson, Antoni Costa, at a press conference this Friday.
Fernández was appointed Director General in 2021 by the Podemos minister Mae de la Concha. But later, the PP minister Joan Simonet ratified him in the position. Brunet had been manager of the Institute for Agri-food and Fisheries Research and Training (IRFAP) since 20219, an body attached to the Ministry.
In a statement, the Executive reported that the new Director General is an agricultural engineer, with a specialization in horticulture and gardening, and has "extensive experience in the management and development of the Balearic agri-food sector". She was also manager of the Camp Mallorquí cooperative and held management positions at the Agroilla Agri-food Corporation. Likewise, Costa thanked Fernández for his "involvement" at the head of the General Directorate.
