The Government will seek legislative integration of the agreements with Vox starting in September.

PalmThe Government left the implementation of some of the agreements with Vox in exchange for the budgets until after the summer – they were changed approve by the end of JulyStarting in September, the PP will begin seeking a way to legislatively accommodate some far-right proposals that were not included in the budget and must be approved through other channels. Specifically, these include the inclusion of the vehicularization of Spanish in the Education Law, and the elimination and relaxation of the Catalan language requirement in various administrative positions. Furthermore, the PP and Vox agreed to make the Guaranteed Social Income (GSI) for new recipients conditional on proof of three years of residency. Similarly, the rejection of the European Green Deal, demanded by the far right, must be legally formalized.

Government sources emphasize that work on the 2026 budget began over the summer and will be presented in the coming months. The Ministry of Economy and Finance also plans to promote the Investment Accelerator Unit to facilitate the implementation of strategic projects—it is part of the General Directorate of Strategic Projects, the European Fund, and Administrative Simplification. Furthermore, two laws are pending: the coastal and agricultural laws—the Government is preparing their draft bills.

As it goes explain the ARA Baleares, the modification of the secure rental program is on the table, because it has not met the Executive's expectations. In the same sense, the express government reform that Prohens launched in the summer must also begin to bear fruit. The Pact for Sustainability, now led by the new Ministry of Labor, will enter the second phase of debate on proposals from the entities, after a tourist season in which repeated scenes of overcrowding.

Immigration, the most urgent front

The same sources warn that the migration crisis will continue to be the "most urgent" issue for the Government at the start of the new political year. Last Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved the decree establishing the reception capacity of the autonomous communities, including the Balearic Islands, and which represents the final step in implementing the distribution of migrant minors. Prohens' refusal to accept them—the Executive has announced the filing of an appeal to the Supreme Court to halt their arrival—has put him at odds with the Canary Islands government and generated tensions with the Spanish government. Both the Government and the Council of Mallorca are considering setting up an emergency reception center for minors in the former Son Tous barracks.
