PalmThe National Police have arrested three young men in Palma after they attempted to flee a police checkpoint in a stolen car, leading police on a high-speed chase through several streets of the city. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning when officers spotted a car driving recklessly in the city center. Upon checking the vehicle's registration, the police confirmed it had been reported stolen two days prior. Noticing the police presence, the occupants attempted to escape, driving evasively and entering the ring road at high speed. The chase ended when the vehicle struck a shoulder, damaging one of the front wheels and causing the driver to lose control. The three occupants abandoned the car, which remained running, and fled on foot along the Sóller road.

Police deployed a large-scale search operation that extended from the Son Castelló industrial park to General Riera Street. One of the suspects was located in the dry bed of a stream within the industrial park, another while attempting to cross towards Alfons el Magnànim Street, and the third while trying to jump the fence of a nearby medical center.

Upon inspecting the vehicle, officers found bolt cutters and a metal hammer in the trunk, which were seized. The car's owner also confirmed that the vehicle had been damaged and that several items were missing from inside.

The three young men were taken to police headquarters as suspected perpetrators of the crimes of vehicle theft, resisting arrest, and disobeying law enforcement officers.
