PalmFrom the town square to the council chamber, from local festivals to municipal debates, the Pla de Mallorca is built day by day, town by town. Throughout 2025, the events in the 14 municipalities and the Commonwealth have painted a diverse yet shared picture of a region facing structural challenges while keeping its identity alive.

All Plans Throughout the year, we have followed the political decisions, neighborhood initiatives, pending projects, ongoing conflicts, and collective celebrations that all coexist in the same narrative. Now, with the year drawing to a close, we turn our attention to reviewing the most significant events in each municipality.

Algaida

The year began marked by institutional mourning for the death of Francesc Antich i Oliver, former mayor of the municipality and former president of the Balearic Government. Throughout the months, institutions have paid tribute to him with the recognition of Illustrious Son, the Medal of Honor of the Council of Mallorca, and, at the end of the year, the posthumous Grand Cross of the Order of Charles III. In the area of urban planning, the Agency for the Defense of the Territory opened an investigation into unauthorized construction work on the Sona Mora estate. Regarding investments, noteworthy improvements include those to the Pare Bartomeu Pou school grounds—with the renovation and partial covering of the sports court and the future installation of a photovoltaic system—and the expansion of the school building. Also significant was the partial purchase of the Can Bodegó estate and the creation of the Algaida Municipal Rural Unit, a pioneering initiative in the management of rural land. The year also left a symbolic image: the disappearance of the radar dome in Cura.

Porreres

Porreres has experienced a year with international repercussions following the controversy over the use of the municipal coat of arms in the logo of a brand linked to Meghan Markle. Locally, the great joy has been the promotion of UE Porreres to the Second Division of the Spanish Football Federation (Segunda RFEF). The municipality has seen the industrial park project finally unblocked after 25 years of bureaucratic hurdles, has begun improvements to the Les Forques sports field, and has undertaken significant works in the town center. It has also put out to tender a new access road to the secondary school (IES) to facilitate its expansion. Montuïri

In 2025, the party's position in the mayor's office was significantly strengthened, a result of the pact between MÁS and the PSIB. The year was marked by the loss of key figures in the municipality and the region, such as Pere Sampol Mas and Onofre Arbona, a cultural icon of the town. Meanwhile, several projects were carried out: the renovation of the Revolt sports field, improvements to the Son Fornés area, environmental work on Avenida del Dau, and the repair of public roads. Sined

The town of Sineu breathed a sigh of relief after the project for a large poultry farm near the town center fell through. The year also saw urban investments and the celebration of the 25th anniversary of IES Sineu, a key center for the entire region. 2025 was marked by the difficulty of passing municipal budgets and the reopening of the debate regarding the demand for public use of the old Costitx road. Vilafranca

The expansion of the Els Cucarells nursery school and the improvement of the stormwater drainage system have been among the highlights. The municipality has taken a strategic step by transferring land to the Regional Ministry of Education for the construction of a future secondary school. The year has also had a strong festive component with the 35th anniversary of Sa Revolta.

Ariany

The purchase of the former Son Siurana estate has marked a turning point for the municipality. The building will become the future Town Hall, a move considered historic. However, the project for the safety road to the cemetery remains stalled.

Petra

The year was marked by the controversial installation—and subsequent removal—of a surveillance camera by the mayor, following anonymous threats. The reopening of Can Real for senior citizens and the centenary celebrations of the Bonany sanctuary also made headlines. Improvement works in the town center continued throughout the year.

María de la Salud

Urban renewal projects have transformed a large part of the municipality. 2025 concluded with the presentation of the future General Plan (PG). The year combined urban development and popular culture, with the revival of festive traditions and the addition of new figures to the local bestiary.

Nearly 200 residents demonstrated to demand a solution to the heavy traffic that runs through the town center. The year's major event was the inauguration of the new Town Hall, while the proliferation of CCTV cameras has generated debate.

Llubí

The municipality has completed a series of projects funded by European funds that have transformed its town center. Highlights include the new recycling center, support for local businesses, and the creation of a public parking lot. The road to the train station has also been improved.

The year has also brought unique sights, such as the world's largest sobrasada sausage and the agreement to acquire the city center's theater.

2025 marked the centennial of the municipality's independence. The municipality combined celebrations, public works, children's participation, and urban planning with the presentation of its first general plan.

Commonwealth of the Plan

The Commonwealth has made the water issue an absolute priority, with coordinated political action from its 14 mayors. The waste collection fleet has also been renewed, and social, environmental, and economic development projects have been launched, consolidating the entity's role as a central pillar of the region.
