Ferran Rosa is the system
PalmaI don't know where I first heard or read that the left-wing voter punishes and the right-wing voter signs up. Punishing can be abstaining, changing sides, or moving within the same. And until not long ago, it made sense. Although perhaps it was only because the right was granite-like and a monopoly of the PP, while the left had always offered more options. Until Ciutadans broke the dam of captive votes towards the center and was flooded with those fleeing Bárcenas & Cia's corruption. That Albert Rivera party was short-lived and now the PP is fighting, hand to hand, with Vox, which is openly campaigning like DYC whisky in politics.
Everything is more entertaining since the emergence of new parties willing to cannibalize the older ones. We thought they would bring freshness and be able to remove the camphor smell from the old ones, but the opposite happened: they quickly became jaded, swallowed by the system; from the Administration to the advisors.
No politician comes out to apologize, ask for forgiveness, or qualify a questionable action. Everything is a flight forward. That is why the deputy of MÉS per Mallorca, Ferran Rosa, has generated a small earthquake of 3 on the Richter scale when he went on a podcast, forgot that he had to behave like a boring and formal parliamentarian, and said what he thought, without filters. But podcasts, like social networks, are the devil's work. Rosa took the opportunity to criticize his former boss (rightly so), Miquel Ensenyat, and wonders how it is possible that 80% of citizens agree with his party's positions and don't vote for him. Well, very simple: because he speaks to the converted, as traditional parties have been doing for years. This is where the success of the new ones comes from. Vox has the advantage that it is easier to stir up and bring to the polls with demagoguery and hate than with proposals, but they arrived last and were the first to see the potential of social networks. It is true (and it is not insignificant) that they have the algorithm on their side, but at least they do not position themselves like the left in the messianic moral superiority of abstract messages.
Rosa has been critical by accident. Less is nothing, but instead of retreating, he should lead this criticism among the more rebellious sector, who have other ways of communicating and convincing. But he won't, because Rosa is the system. And the system always shields itself. The entertainment is over. Sign up or not sign up. That is the question.
